Music in our Church

Music plays an important part of worship and praise to God. Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Sing a New Song

SING a NEW SONG is an ecumenical prayer group, held at Corpus Christi Church, once a month, from 8-9.30 pm.

We know that God enjoys the praises of His people, and because so many people enjoy music, we try to use our time of prayer to express our love for Him through song, especially as so many beautiful and inspirational hymns and songs have been written.

‘Go within his gates, giving thanks Enter his courts with songs of praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name.’ Psalm 99

We share a short time of silence, during which we try to hear God speaking to us, or we just bask in the warm light of His love and peace. We share our experiences, concerns, sadness, happiness, hope and good news. We use scripture, psalms, prayers, reflections and art as we pray together; we also have a time of intercession.

Church interior

'Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them'. Isaiah 42:10:

Also, we can just sit, pray, reflect and, maybe, listen – nothing is expected of anyone, so just ‘being’ is perfect: God, we know, meets us exactly where we are. '... Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.' Ephesians 5: 19

Please join us whenever you can to thank, praise, and glorify our wonderful Father, His Son, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.
